If you haven’t spent time down by the Cahaba River here in Trussville, you’re missing out on one of the best parts of our town. It runs right through the heart of Trussville and is actually the longest free-flowing river in Alabama! Pretty cool, right? It’s home to all kinds of rare fish, plants, and animals—over 130 species of fish, believe it or not. Folks travel from all over the state to enjoy it, but for us, it’s right in our backyard. 🌿 A Bit of HistoryBack in the day, the Cahaba helped build Trussville—literally. Warren Truss and early settlers built mills along the river, and in the 1930s, the Cahaba Project popped up nearby as part of a federal neighborhood plan. A lot of our downtown roots started right there. 🚣♀️ What You Can Do Down There
🌸 Don’t Miss This!Every May and June, something magical happens—the Cahaba lilies bloom! These rare white flowers only grow in moving water and pop up like little stars. Best time to see them? Between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. 🔗 Handy Links
